Bisq v2.1.7: More Reliable Message Delivery, Trade & Mediation Enhancements
Bisq is a secure, private and decentralized bitcoin P2P exchange network. Bisq2 is set to be the successor to Bisq v1 and will support multiple trade protocols, multiple privacy networks and multiple identities.

- This version introduces a protection mechanism against triangular scams, more reliable message delivery, bug fixes in the trade process, as well as mediation improvements.
"Please upgrade ASAP to benefit from enhanced resilience and stability," said the project.
- Bisq is currently hiring Senior Java Developers to contribute to building a censorship-resistant financial infrastructure.
- Last but not least, the first-ever Bisq Hackathon is scheduled for April 10-13th. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with various challenges and ideas designed to innovate and improve the Bisq platform.

What's new
- A split pane has been introduced to adjust and balance the sizes between the offer book chat and the offer list.

- The Bisq Easy protocol has been improved to safeguard against triangular scams. With this enhancement, the buyer is now required to set the trade ID as the "Reason for payment" when making the Fiat transfer.
- The splash screen now displays the loading progress for each necessary step, which includes: starting Tor, publishing the onion service, connecting to the P2P network, and requesting the data inventory.
- Official Bisq mediators and moderators are now identifiable by a badge that appears next to their nickname.

- Improvements to message delivery:
- Messages are sent as mailbox messages if a connection to the peer has not yet been established. This enhancement speeds up message delivery and increases resilience.
- Mailbox messages are also sent in situations where the node associated with the user profile has not yet published its onion service. This scenario is particularly relevant when using multiple user profiles and when Tor is slow or unstable.
- Improvements to the trade process:
- Enabling multiple takers to accept the same offer from a maker who is offline. Previously, only the first "take offer" message was processed successfully, and any additional attempts resulted in errors once the maker came online.
- Introducing a new version for trade ID creation that incorporates the date the offer was taken. This feature allows a single taker to accept the same offer multiple times. This change will take effect on June 1st.
- Improvements in mediation:
- Support for message delivery status with multiple peers during mediation has been added.
- A new version of mediator selection now includes the offer ID, ensuring that the same pair of traders always gets the same mediator. This feature will be activated on June 1st.
- A popup with details about mediation cases has been added for mediators.
- A "remove mediation case" button has been introduced for mediators.
- Bug Fixes:
- A bug causing trade messages to arrive out of order, which resulted in failed or stuck trades, has been fixed.
- Multiple issues related to mediation and the mediation request process have been resolved.
- A bug preventing the acceptance of new offers has been fixed.
