Brave Wallet Finally Adds Bitcoin Support But Will Focus on Shitcoins on Bitcoin
"With the latest update of Brave on desktop (1.63), Brave Wallet users can now create Native SegWit Bitcoin accounts, which offer lower transaction fees and better error detection compared to other Bitcoin account types," announced Brave.
- "Brave Wallet is now also fully equipped to send and receive from all types of Bitcoin addresses, including Legacy, Nested SegWit, Native SegWit, and Taproot, ensuring compatibility with third-party wallets," added the company.
- "The company intends to enable users to store BRC-20 tokens and Ordinals within Brave Wallet, with these features expected to be available across all desktop and mobile versions of the browser later this year," reported Bitcoin Magazine.
“Our aim with Brave Wallet is to offer the most secure and privacy-considerate software wallet for everyday use. As the Bitcoin ecosystem expands with new apps and services, Brave Wallet will be there to put security and privacy first, to help keep users’ assets safe,” James Mudgett, VP Web3 Products at Brave stated in a blog post.
- In an initial coin offering on 31 May 2017, Brave sold one billion of BAT shitcoins for a total of 156,250 ETH ($35 million) in less than 30 seconds. An additional 500 million BAT was retained by the company to be used to 'promote the adoption of the platform.'
- The browser boasts of 67 million monthly active users and over 25 million daily active users.
