Dutch Bitcoin-only Exchange BL3P to Shut Down on December 20th
After more than 10 years of service, Dutch bitcoin-only exchange BL3P will be shutting down on December 20th, 2024.
- BL3P is the only bitcoin exchange based in the Netherlands and holds Dutch bank accounts to process euro transactions.
- According to the exchange, the decision was driven by new regulations such as MiCA, and the company will focus on the Bitonic platform moving forward.
"This decision, driven by new regulations such as MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation), will allow us to fully focus on improving the Bitonic platform and its product range. While BL3P has been an integral part of Bitonic and the bitcoin community for over a decade, we believe that this transition will enable us to provide you with better services and new opportunities moving forward," said the platform in blog post.
- Users can continue using the platform until December 2oth, 2024. After this date, any remaining balances will be transferred to user's Bitonic account. User's will still be able to access their trade history.
"It’s also important to note that the BL3P Lightning NFC card will be deactivated on December 20th," added the exchange.
- Users are encouraged to switch to the Bitonic platform, which aims to implement BL3P features such as target orders, dynamic withdrawal fees, and Lightning Network integration in the near future.
"While we cannot provide an exact timeline for these features, rest assured that we are committed to continuously improving the Bitonic platform to meet your needs," was stated in the blog post.
