New on Geyser: Bitcoin Films, Social Causes & Latest Communities
Discover and support some of the latest Bitcoin grassroots projects and initiatives launched via the Geyser crowdfunding platform.
Geyser has recently completed round 6 of Geyser grants, this time focusing on films presented at Bitcoin Film Fest 2024. You can find and support all producer campaigns here. These include:
- My Trust In You Is Broken. A chronicle of the early days of Bitcoin and the development of the BTCPay Server, highlighting its crucial role in Bitcoin's adoption for business transactions
- Dirty Coin: A Documentary About Bitcoin Mining. A feature documentary that looks at the most misunderstood and misrepresented aspect of Bitcoin - its energy consumption.
- Peru: Bitcoin, Poverty and Motiv. Set in Ancon, a small town north of Lima, Peru, this documentary explores how the local community has embraced Bitcoin as a transformative financial tool.
- Lekker Feeling. A documentary on how Bitcoin and surfing are driving social change and empowerment in Mossel Bay, South Africa.
- Death Athletic. An investigative documentary exploring Cody Wilson's battle over the 1st Amendment and the right to share 3D-printed gun code online.
- Who is Bitcoin? Web-series with a mission, or as some may say, 'Bitcoin from Sesame Street'.
- Menger. Notes on the Margin. A biographical film celebrating the 150th anniversary of Carl Menger, founder of the Austrian School of Economics, and his pioneering work in economic theory.
- HodL. A comedic short film about a Bitcoin novice navigating the complexities of cryptocurrency, produced on an extremely low budget by the Garcia Brothers.
- Searching for Satoshi. A feature-length documentary delving into the mysteries and conspiracies surrounding Bitcoin’s elusive creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
- Bitcoiners. An inside look at the passionate Bitcoin community in Texas and their belief in cryptocurrency's power to revolutionize America.
- Gods of Their Own Religion. A dystopian feature film exploring resistance and the quest for human spirit under a technocratic regime, produced during the 2020 lockdown.
- Adventures of Jonathan. An animated series based on 'The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible' that combines adventure with financial education for young viewers.
Social causes
Help My Kids in Gaza
- Help a family trapped in Gaza safely escape the horrors of war with their young children. "I’m Mustafa Albanna, a 35-year-old engineer from Gaza. I have four beautiful children - Safi, Hamdy, Yamen, and the youngest addition, little Taha, born on February 2nd. Help for Daughter
- Spinal Surgery for Daughter in Venezuela. "My name is Fernanda Morillo, I am a single mother and I live in Venezuela, my 15 year old daughter Jhoselyn needs surgery to correct her spine since she suffers from scoliosis which affects her with severe back pain and limits her to not being able to perform in many areas. activities that a healthy child of her age can do."
Support Hospital Roatan's Recovery with Bitcoin
- A Bitcoin donation campaign to support Hospital Roatan in Honduras. "On April 19, 2024, a tragic electrical fire caused Hospital Roatan, the only public medical facility in the Bay Islands, to be immersed in flames. All patients and staff were able to evacuate safely, but were forced to leave their belongings behind. Although no lives were lost, the devastating loss of this vital medical infrastructure has left our community in a state of dire need."

SeeChange Initiative
- SeeChange is a social purpose organization that aims to raise awareness and knowledge about tuberculosis in Inuit communities, combat stigma and encourage individuals to take proactive measures for testing and treatment with the goal of eliminating TB in Inuit communities by 2030.

Bitcoin Analytics
- Open source bitcoin analytics data for pulling reports from your own node. "This project seeks to make important bitcoin analytics available for free, for anyone to run on their own node, without going through gate keepers like Glassnode and others."
