  • Nigeria sues traders over 'unlicensed USDT and Naira' trades. The Nigerian government has filed lawsuits against four traders and several firms for operating without authorization in the Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (AFEM). • Proton Management denies Swan Bitcoin accusations. In a written response filed on Monday, Proton Management denied allegations made by Swan Bitcoin, asserting that Swan never engaged in a genuine mining business.
"Rather," Proton stated, "as Swan admits in its complaint and publicly, what Swan has called its mining business is really just a separate entity called 2040 Energy, which is fully funded by Tether."
    • Proton Management has also requested the dismissal of the case.
    • The Miner Mag has published an unredacted version of the original lawsuit by Swan Bitcoin. It originally hid details indicating that Tether controlled the board of directors of the joint venture.

Pavel Durov added that his company has been disclosing user information since 2018.
  • Chat control removed from EU Council agenda this week. Despite the removal, a spokesman for the EU Council stated that Hungary "continues to actively hold talks with all member states." Consequently, the proposed regulation could be reintroduced to the agenda at any time in the near future.
  • Search and rescue operation by NC Bitcoin Community. North Carolina's Bitcoin community is launching a search-and-rescue mission on October 4 to support western areas affected by Hurricane Helene.
