Headlines

  • U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETF inflows signal improving macro conditions. On Monday, U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds experienced their seventh consecutive day of net inflows. This follows a period of substantial outflows during February and the start of March, reports The Block.
  • Trump Administration uses Signal to coordinate war plans. In an unprecedented leak, the editor of The Atlantic was added to a Signal group where senior members of U.S. President Donald Trump's Cabinet shared detailed operational plans and potentially highly classified information regarding U.S. military strikes on Yemen. The Trump administration acknowledged that the messages appeared to be authentic.

  • Nigeria: Binance is not being held responsible for the devaluation of Naira. The country's Information Minister stated that Binance was not blamed for the Naira's devaluation, despite acknowledging the exchange's contribution. In February, the Nigerian government sued Binance, seeking $79.5 billion for "economic losses" and $2 billion for unpaid taxes.
"This is part of the effort to strengthen our laws, not to cripple anybody. We are ensuring that no one comes and operates without regulation," said Nigeria’s Information Minister, Mohammed Idris.
  • The U.S. FAIR Act would protect Bitcoiners against civil asset forfeiture. The FAIR Act of 2023, reintroduced in 2024 and co-sponsored by Senator Lummis and others, seeks to amend federal laws to safeguard citizens from abuses of civil asset forfeiture. It aims to ensure that such proceedings adhere to due process as outlined by the Fifth Amendment.
  • The Arizona House Rules Committee approved two Bitcoin Reserve Bills, SB1373 and SB1025, deeming them "constitutional and in proper form." With passage through their assigned committees, these bills are set to proceed to a full floor vote. Despite the Republican majority in the Arizona House, Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs has a history of vetoing Republican initiatives.
  • Oklahoma's Bitcoin Reserve Bill HB1203 has also been approved by the House, making it one of the few states, alongside Texas, Arizona, and Utah, whose legislatures have passed Bitcoin Reserve legislation through at least one chamber.

  • Meanwhile, 'Bitcoin Rights' bill was signed into law in Kentucky. HB 701 introduces protections for digital asset holders, users, and node runners while promoting a favorable environment for mining activities in the state.
  • Metaplanet acquires additional 150 BTC, now holds 3,350 coins. The Japanese investment company purchased an extra $12.6 million worth of bitcoin as part of its ongoing strategy to accumulate more bitcoin.
  • HK Asia Holdings adopts Bitcoin Treasury strategy. The company has purchased 18.88 BTC, worth more than $1.7 million, marking it as the first publicly traded company in Greater China to implement a Bitcoin treasury strategy.
  • Trump Media Company and Crypto.com to launch 'Made in America' ETFs. On Monday, Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. revealed it has signed a non-binding agreement with Crypto.com. This partnership intends to launch a series of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and exchange-traded products (ETPs) under the company's Truth.Fi fintech brand.
  • BlackRock launches Bitcoin ETP in Europe. BlackRock has introduced its bitcoin exchange-traded product (ETP) in Europe today. The iShares Bitcoin ETP has been listed under the ticker "IB1T" on Euronext Paris and Xetra, and as "BTCN" on Euronext Amsterdam.
  • Tether is in talks with a Big Four accounting firm to conduct a full audit. An audit would enhance Tether's transparency regarding its reserves, which are currently reviewed through quarterly reports but have not undergone a comprehensive audit.
"It's our top priority. Now we are living in a landscape where it's actually feasible," said Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether.
  • El Salvador launches Bitcoin Diploma course in a public school. A total of 280 Salvadoran students are participating in the pilot program, which is overseen by local educators with the government support. The students are scheduled to graduate on April 21st.
  • Btrust announces Btrust Builders Pathways. The non-profit organization dedicated to training Bitcoin open-source engineers in the Global South is introducing a program featuring five structured learning tracks: 1) Mastering Bitcoin, 2) Bitcoin from the Command Line, 3) Rust for Bitcoiners, 4) Language Clubs, and 5) Start Your Career in BOSS. Each track is crafted to equip developers with the technical and conceptual skills needed to contribute to Bitcoin development.

    • Registration is currently open for the waitlist of the next cohort for pathways 1 and 2, while pathways 3 and 4 are scheduled to launch in Q2 2025.
  • Jimmy Song's Programming Blockchain course running March 31-April 1 in Austin is still taking applications. "This is your final opportunity to take the class that has launched hundreds of Bitcoin developer careers," said the developer.

  • Blockstream Green Desktop v2.0.22 has added an option to request an email containing the user’s nLockTime transactions.
  • Nunchuk Desktop v1.9.44 packages with the latest bug fixes and improvements.
  • Ditto v1.3, a Nostr server for building resilient online communities, includes improved search and event fetching through a new Explore tab. It also features video enhancements, translation upgrades, basic custom emoji support, improved translations, key admin tools, and more.
  • Damus v1.13.1 is a hotfix release that addresses an issue with threads not loading properly.
  • LND v0.19.0-beta.rc1 has been tagged.
  • Neutrino v0.16.1, a privacy-preserving Bitcoin light client written in Go and designed for mobile Lightning Network clients, has been tagged.
  • Cashu Dev Kit (CDK) v0.8.0 has been released. This version adds a payment processor and a payment request builder, utility functions for Proofs and SendKind, and support for SQLCipher, among other changes, fixes, and improvements.
    • CDK v0.8.1 implements a fix for MintUrls with a path.
  • Nutstash wallet v2.0.4, a Cashu Wallet with multi-mint and send-to-nostr-key functionality, delivers support for offline tokens, UX improvements, as well as stability and bug fixes.
  • NerdAxe and NerdQAxe+ firmware v1.0.27 includes Stratum connection improvements, disables Wi-Fi power saving, utilizes ASIC temperature on the BM1368 boards, and more.

NOTE: The over-temperature shutdown on devices with the BM1368, like the NerdQaxe+, now uses actual chip temperatures. The web UI displays the highest chip temperature as the ASIC Temperature, which might appear higher than before.

  • Nostr-zap v1.3.0, a tool for zapping any Nostr npub or note from anywhere on the web, introduces the data-naddr property as an alternative to data-note-id.
  • Bunklay is a Nostr relay implementation that only accepts 24133 events, which are used by remote signers.
