"We are excited to announce the launch of Localhost Research! Thanks to the generosity of our founding donors Mark Casey and Wences Casares, we are able to offer an in-person environment that supports FOSS work in the Bitcoin ecosystem," announced the organization.
  • The mission of Localhost Research is to "foster an in-person environment which enables outstanding individuals to contribute to the research and development of protocols that are critical to the functioning and growth of the Bitcoin network."
  • The founding team consists of Mark Erhardt and Ava Chow. Community members Justin and Patricia have worked to stand up the organization with the guidance of board members Matt Corallo and Denise Terry.
  • The team will continue their efforts with Bitcoin Core, focusing on review, maintenance, and code contributions with a special focus on the wallet, while also producing educational content.
  • Long-term, the Localhost Research team emphasizes the importance of supporting projects that counteract centralization in mining and erosions of privacy across the network.
"We want to thank Chaincode Labs and Brink for paving the way for organizations in this space. We tip our hat to 2140, a recently announced organization similar to ours. We look forward to growing alongside you," said Localhost Research.
