Minibits v0.1.9-beta: Performance Improvements & Themes
Minibits is a mobile e-cash wallet with a focus on performance and usability. Available on Android.
- "New Minibits Wallet v0.1.9 has been released," announced the project.
- This update includes significant performance improvements for cryptographic operations, a redesigned main wallet screen, theme support, ecash storage reliability and stability improvements, and various bug fixes.
NOTE: It is highly recommended to keep minimal balance in the wallet before upgrading!
- The upgrade involves a significant migration on the storage side. The first start may take much longer than usual—do not kill the app until it finishes the process. If you see a zero balance on the first start after the upgrade, this is due to the migration process; simply restart the app once more, and your balance should reappear.
What's new
- 10x faster recovery of funds. This version brings significant performance improvements for cryptographic operations, as Minibits now uses a native implementation of cryptographic functions instead of JavaScript.
- Redesigned main wallet screen. It now comes with fiat exchange rates and Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) limits overview.
- Theme support and brand new Golden theme. Users can now switch themes in Settings, including a brand new Golden theme to choose from.
- Ecash storage reliability and stability improvements and other bug fixes. Minibits should now keep your local ecash in a much more resilient way and with significantly better performance for wallets containing a large number of ecash notes (thousands).
Notable bug fixes and UI or platform changes:
- Critical fix for when the balance disappears if the input to a send transaction contains an already spent proof.
- Added fix to support sending to Lightning addresses from USD/EUR mints.
- The NWC connection string now contains only a single relay for better compatibility.
- Various smaller fixes and UI tunings.
- Upgraded React Native to version 0.75.
