Mutiny Wallet Shutdown Timeline Announced
Last month, Mutiny announced the shutdown of its wallet service. It will be removed from app stores and the web by December 31, 2024.
- Mutiny Wallet users need to move funds out and close open lightning channels. It supports sending to bitcoin, lightning, or fedimint wallets.
- Users can self-host Mutiny or the one-click install on StartOS. The project will continue as open-source code. You can also transfer any ecash balance to the Fedi app with low fees if in the same federation. The self-hosted version can still act as a fedimint wallet.
"The Mutiny Team isn't going anywhere. We care very much about the need for strong data privacy and are working on novel security tools for developers across the ecosystem. Privacy UX needs an upgrade – for users and builders. If you're an app dev, reach out and we can chat," was stated in the blog post.
