Nostr Protocol Surpasses 1 Million Zaps Milestone
The network's stats, ever-expanding features and a vibrant developer ecosystem are indicating that it is starting to gain traction.
- The decentralized social media protocol surpassed a significant milestone of facilitating over 1 million zaps between its users.
- Zaps (NIP-57) constitute a novel, nostr-only social media event that makes use of transmitting value over the Lightning Network. It works by creating two new kinds of notes, a zap (kind 9735) and a zap request (kind 9734). Together, they make it possible for Nostr clients to request Zap invoices from LNURL servers and pay them. The Lightning wallets that receive Zap payments also create notes that then are broadcasted to relays.
- The network has slightly more than half a million users and nearly 110 million published events, per Primal.net.
