Nunchuk Launches New and Improved Group Wallet with Chat
Nunchuk is a Bitcoin multisig wallet with premium features such as inheritance planning, scheduled transactions, emergency lockdown, Taproot Multisig, Decoy wallets, and more. Available on Android, iOS, and desktop.
- Nunchuk Desktop v1.9.43, Android v1.9.64, and iOS v1.9.71 introduce a new and improved end-to-end encrypted group wallet and chat, utilizing Output Descriptors to derive a single, shared encryption key for the group.
"We’re excited to unveil a completely redesigned Group Wallet that streamlines collaboration, boosts reliability, and simplifies recovery. Best of all, it’s available to all Nunchuk users — free or paid," announced the project.
- The feature is powered by a two-phase asymmetric and symmetric encryption scheme.
"We rely on PBKDF2 to transform the wallet’s Output Descriptors into robust symmetric encryption keys. Those same Output Descriptors are also used to derive a unique group wallet ID, which Nunchuk uses to establish a dedicated session with the server for each group wallet."
- Nunchuk's Group Wallet implementation also supports automatic message deletion in a custom number of days, and users can choose between a standard NativeSegwit multisig or a Taproot multisig using Schnorr signatures and MuSig2.
"The new Group Wallet is our answer to the complexity of collaborative custody. By harnessing Output Descriptors for encryption, we reduce key management headaches and provide a powerful, secure channel for coordinating transactions," said the project.
