OpenSats Announces Eighth Wave of Nostr Grants
OpenSats, a non-profit dedicated to funding free and open-source Bitcoin and broader freedom tech developers, announced the eighth wave of Nostr grants to five Nostr projects: Formstr, Groups, Coop, Nostrability, and the NIP-44 Libraries audit.
"From developing intuitive user interfaces to enabling robust cross-client compatibility, these projects embody the spirit of open-source collaboration, making important contributions to the nostr ecosystem," announced OpenSats in a blog post.
Recipients of support include:
- Formstr is an alternative to Google Forms or Typeform built on the Nostr protocol. This grant will help the project to implement multi-admin access forms, encrypted selective participation, logic-based fields, paid surveys, AI integration, and compatibility with Notion and Slack.
- Groups is a a chat client on Nostr using NIP-29. It supports relay-based group chats with moderation, threaded conversations, and event handling. This grant will be used to enhance group management, user interface, NIP-29 actions, and community feedback integration.
- Coop is a Nostr-based messaging client for gamers, offering secure group chats and plans voice/video calls, akin to Discord. The grant will enhance group management capabilities, implement secret chats, and improve UI design, performance, third-party integrations and community tools.
- Nostrability offers practical documentation of how various Nostr apps and relays play together, highlighting inconsistencies. The grant will help document client behavior, gather feedback, develop an automated testing suite, and advocate for new NIPs.
- NIP-44 Libraries Audit for cryptography libraries for Nostr's encrypted messaging and group chat features under NIP-44, which improves upon NIP-04. The independent review of the Noble-Ciphers JS implementation will bring secure and resilient private communications.
