OpenSats Announces New Round of Grants Focused on Bitcoin Core
OpenSats, a non-profit focused on supporting the development of Bitcoin and related freedom tech, has announced a new round of grants focused on Bitcoin Core.
- "OpenSats is pleased to announce a new round of grants focused on Bitcoin Core development. We are excited to provide grants for three up-and-coming developers working on Bitcoin's reference implementation," announced OpenSats.
- Additionally, OpenSats is supporting supporting the development of the Bitcoin Core App and the Bitcoin Core Testing Suite.
"These grants are sourced from our General Fund, which is supported by generous donors like you. If you would like to support free and open-source projects that help Bitcoin flourish, consider donating to the fund."

Grantees
- @tdb3. tdb3 aims to enhance Bitcoin Core's stability, security, and performance by reviewing and authoring pull requests. With over 300 open PRs, his initial focus will be maintenance, bug-fixing, and feature enhancement.
- @davidgumberg. David Gumberg is optimizing the Initial Block Download (IBD) process for Bitcoin Core nodes, aiming to reduce time, bandwidth, and storage challenges. Efforts include developing benchmarking infrastructure, monitoring performance regressions, and evaluating proposals to enhance IBD efficiency.
- @hodlinator. Hodlinator aims to enhance Bitcoin Core by reviewing code, addressing performance issues, improving logging, debugging, and refining tests. The grant supports these activities and the creation of tools to identify regressions, ultimately improving the robustness and reliability of Bitcoin Core.
- Bitcoin Core App modernizes the user interface by shifting to the Qt-QML framework and enhancing user experience with input from the Bitcoin Design Community. It aims to lower barriers, promote self-custody, enhance privacy, and increase node participation. A key feature will be mobile device compatibility, particularly for Android.
