OpenSats has announced new grants to Bitcoin Core contributors L0rinc, kevkevin, and Daniela Brozzoni.
- "In alignment with our mission to maintain a robust Bitcoin ecosystem, OpenSats is proud to announce a new round of grants dedicated to advancing Bitcoin Core development. These grants aim to empower developers—both seasoned and emerging—to strengthen, refine, and innovate on Bitcoin's reference implementation," announced the non-profit.
The latest grantees include:
- L0rinc, who aims to improve Bitcoin Core's performance and reliability by optimizing Initial Block Download (IBD), block storage, and database functionality, standardizing benchmarks, enhancing code quality, and replacing the outdated LevelDB database.
- kevkevin. Kevin enhances Bitcoin Core's stability, security, and usability by fixing bugs, reviewing pull requests, improving test coverage, and exploring advanced testing techniques like fuzz testing.
- Daniela Brozzoni works on reviewing Bitcoin Core's code, adding features, and improving test coverage. Currently onboarding, she reviews pull requests to familiarize herself with the codebase and build skills for larger contributions.
To get involved with Bitcoin Core, aspiring contributors should check out the good first issue list, read the "Contributing to Bitcoin Core" guide, and join the PR Review Club. Additionally, consider applying to programs like Summer of Bitcoin or Chaincode Labs for hands-on experience.
