OpenSats Issues Second Wave of Education Grants

"We are pleased to announce our latest round of grants aimed at supporting educational projects that are enhancing the understanding and adoption of Bitcoin worldwide," announced the organization.

  • OpenSats Educational Initiative is dedicated to projects advancing Bitcoin education, fostering innovation, and promoting financial inclusion through open-source resources, workshops, and community events.
"In addition to these grants, we are also proud to have supported the Tokyo LN Summit 2024, which played a role in fostering collaboration and innovation within the Bitcoin Lightning Network ecosystem," was stated in a blog post.

Grantees include:

  • Bitcoin Jungle is an open-source project aiming to create a circular Bitcoin economy in Costa Rica. It educates businesses and individuals, offers free tech services, and fosters community through meetups.
  • Bitcoin Indonesia is a grassroots initiative promoting Bitcoin adoption through education, community building, and open-source development. They offer daily workshops, meetups, and outreach in schools and universities.
  • Deciphering Bitcoin is an open-source project creating a free academic textbook on Bitcoin. It covers fundamental and advanced topics, with interactive courses for all expertise levels.
  • BOBSpaces Residency - Cohort 3 is a Bitcoin-only incubator in Bangkok supporting open-source Bitcoin projects. Cohort 3 focuses on Bitcoin mining, featuring projects like StratumV2, Braidpool, and Pivotal Pleb Tech. Participants receive funding, workspaces, design support, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Statsie's Pocket Guides are handmade zines that simplify complex Bitcoin topics, like BIPs and Taproot. Distributed at conferences and meetups, with digital versions available, they cater to various learning styles.
  • Africa Free Routing is a boot camp series training African developers and fintech professionals on Bitcoin and the Lightning Network. In four days, participants learn to integrate Lightning solutions, fostering local Bitcoin adoption and attracting global companies.
