Tether & Bitfinex: Signed MOU with Georgia, Launched Bitfinex P2P, Issued $100k Grant to Qubes OS
Tether has signed a MOU with the government of Georgia, Bitfinex launched its P2P platform in Venezuela, Argentina and Colombia, and both companies provided funding for Qubes OS.
- Tether announced a the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Georgia.
"In order to create a conducive environment for decentralized solutions, adoption, and peer-to-peer technology startups, this collaboration will focus on fostering a thriving startup ecosystem in Georgia. By highlighting the country's favorable working conditions and high quality of life, Tether and the Government of Georgia aim to attract international attention and investment, stimulating the growth and success of innovative startups in the blockchain space.," stated the press release.
- Meanwhile, trading platform Bitfinex launched a Bitfinex P2P exchange for existing Bitfinex customers. The P2P exchange intially launched in Venezuela, Argentina, and Columbia.
"Bitfinex P2P allows customers to buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Tether tokens (USDt and EURt), Tether Gold (XAUt) and Ether (ETH) directly while completing payment directly with one another outside of the Bitfinex platform. Customers can also swap one digital token for another within the marketplace," states the announcement.
- Users have to be verified up to Bitfinex Basic Plus level in order to be eligible to trade on the platform. This includes uploading your official photo ID, biometric photo, phone number, and residence address.
- Last but not least, Tether and Bitfinex issued a public grant of 100,000 USD₮ to support the open-source development of Qubes OS, a privacy and security operating system.
"Qubes OS is an open-source project that has garnered significant recognition from renowned bitcoiners and freedom activists for its robust security architecture and innovative approach to protecting user privacy. By leveraging Xen-based virtualization, the OS is able to isolate different tasks and applications within separate virtual machines called ‘qubes’, and provide a level of security that surpasses traditional operating systems," was written in the press release.
- "We greatly welcome the grant that has been gifted by Tether and Bitfinex. Their support of our open source software development is critical to the continued growth of our operating system, and ensuring it remains the best-in-class secure platform for all users," said the Qubes OS team.
