Texas Senate Bill Seeks To Restrict Demand Response Arrangements
Bill authors want to slash Bitcoin mining incentives in the state.
- On Tuesday the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce heard testimony on a bill that would mandate virtual currency mining shut down during times of a power emergency.
- Senate Bill 1751 would also ban ERCOT from compensating bitcoin miners for shutting down during demand spikes.
- The bill also seeks to control electricity demand from bitcoin mining by restricting the tax incentives to lure them to Texas.
