Trump 47 Fundraising Committee Partners with OpenNode to Accept Bitcoin Donations (UPDATED)
  • "OpenNode is proud to partner with Anedot to bring Bitcoin into the political donation process. This is a perfect marriage of OpenNode’s leading Bitcoin tech stack and Anedot’s robust platform for political and nonprofit organizations," OpenNode told Bitcoin Magazine.
"The Trump campaign’s adoption of our solution is a powerful proof-point of how political campaigns and nonprofits across the country can seamlessly accept Bitcoin donations," added the company.

Yaël, consumer advocate and visiting fellow at the Bitcoin Policy Institute, clarified that Trump's presidential campaign is not receiving bitcoin donations directly but via Trump 47 Committee, a joint fundraising committee authorized by Donald J. Trump for President 2024.

In previous statements, Trump himself repeatedly emphasized that his preferred currency is the dollar.

  • "I always liked ONE currency. I like the dollar," he said in February this year.
"Sometimes we'll let people pay through Bitcoin...it's an additional form of currency...I would not allow countries to go off the dollar, because when we lose that standard, that will be like losing a revolutionary war," Trump stated back in March.
  • In a bid to appeal to more libertarian voters, Trump recently promised to commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road and an early Bitcoin pioneer, to time served if he is elected President.
