VanEck To Donate 5% of Its Bitcoin ETF Profits to Support Bitcoin Core Developers
"Bitcoin and blockchain technology are public goods. That’s why we’re donating 5% of our profits to Bitcoin core developers," wrote CEO Jan van Eck in a blog post.
- "We’re not Bitcoin tourists at VanEck. We’re in it for the long haul. That’s why we made an initial $10k donation and signed a pledge to donate 5% of our Bitcoin ETF profits to support Bitcoin Core devs via @bitcoinbrink for at least 10 years," was announced on X.
"We also know that investing in bitcoin is difficult due to its newness and volatility, among other risks. This is why we scream for investors to dollar cost average—start right away (small) but dollar cost average over time and Hold On for Dear Life (or HODL). Last, we put our money where our mouth is, by providing the biggest seed capital of any ETF—about $72 million at the time."
- A similar pledge by VanEck was made in October last year when the company announced its plans to donate 10% of profits from its ether futures ETF to Ethereum developers.
